EUROPEAN CERTIFICATE IN HOLISTIC DEMENTIA CARE
Milford Care Centre is delighted to announce that we will be offering this exciting new course in collaboration with Northern Ireland Hospice.
Date: 27th April to 24th June 2015 (running again 28th September – 25th November)
Venue: Eight Week Distance Learning Certificate (Introduction Evening and Exam Day will be facilitated in the Education Centre in Milford Care Centre Limerick).
Aim: This Certificate addresses the needs and challenges of providing care to people with dementia.
Fee: £400 sterling
In order to undertake the course applicants must be working in a suitable practice setting, for example, in an acute hospital, nursing home or hospice, community setting and should have direct contact with dementia patients. The course is open to the following professions: nursing, medicine, social work, chaplaincy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
- Portfolio: candidates will write a case study demonstrating personal and professional reflection about the management of a patient with dementia needs within a palliative care setting.
- Written Examination: the 90 minute written assessment will comprise of multiple choice questions and short note questions in response to a video scenario.

EUROPEAN CERTIFICATE IN ESSENTIAL PALLIATIVE CARE (ECEPC)
The eight-week distance learning/home study programme is aimed at doctors, nurses and pharmacists working in clinical practice or who are new to specialist palliative care. Over 2000 candidates have completed the program since its initiation. Feedback from the course is hugely positive with candidates claiming -

The course has been awarded 35 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and 50 Continuing Professional Development Points from The Royal College of Physicians Ireland.
This course is provided twice a year. The first course will begin on the 13th of April and the second on the 14th of September 2015.
