Education & Research

Education, research and professional development are at the heart of Milford Care Centre's Mission Statement to provide the highest quality care to patients, residents and their families.  The Education Service at Milford Care Centre is a major provider of education in palliative care, gerontology and clinical skills education in Ireland.  The service promotes a multi-professional approach to all education programmes and encourages the development and delivery of flexible, affordable education options for all.

Our vision is to develop a sustainable and robust service to contribute to and bring the knowledge, skills and attitudes of palliative care and gerontology to healthcare professionals and the public, whilst recognising the professional development needs of our own staff.  This in turn will improve the quality of life for patients and their families at the end of life.

The Education, Research and Professional Development Service is supported by a Library and Information Service and most education is delivered in a new education facility on the campus of Milford Care Centre, Limerick, situated next-door to The University of Limerick.  Off-site education is also provided upon request.
