Donor Charter

 

Milford Care Centre sets out the following donor charter to ensure that its donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in all aspects of the way in which the organisation is run.  We strive to live our core values: Justice, Compassion, Respect, Communication and Accountability.

Milford Care Centre is committed to complying with the Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising, which was drawn up in the context of the Charities Bill 2007 and now the Charities Act 2009.

Our Donors’ Rights:

  • Our pledge is to treat all donors with respect, care, honesty and openness
  • We respect the donor’s right to privacy, including the donor’s right to have their details deleted from our mailing lists and that there will be full compliance with the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003
  • Our fundraisers and volunteers will observe the highest professional standards at all times
  • The details of the membership of the Board will be available on our website
  • The Board, as Trustees, will exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

Our Commitment to our Donors:

  • All donations will receive a prompt acknowledgement / receipt of donations
  • Where applicable, and duly authorised, tax relief on donations will be claimed
  • We will ensure that we are accountable and transparent in every facet of our fundraising activities and full financial records will be kept to ensure accountability and tracking
  • All of our fundraising activities are subject to an annual audit by a firm of independent Auditors and Milford Care Centre fully meets its obligation for the filing of annual returns as prescribed by Company Law.
  • Milford Hospice Friends, who raise funds specifically for Hospice Care, hold an Annual General Meeting where there is full reporting on our programme of fundraising activities and where the funds have been expended.

Milford Care Centre is also committed as follows:

  • In our fundraising activities, we will adhere to best practice
  • We will seek to maximise the value of public donations by applying for matching funding from official funding bodies such as Irish Government Agencies and the European Union
  • We will make available on request to donors, Milford Care Centre’s agreed procedure for making and responding to complaints.
