Occupational TherapyOccupational Therapy is a method used to maximise independence through providing assistance with the activities of day to day life, such as washing, dressing, eating, mobility, leisure and managing symptoms of pressure care, fatigue and breathlessness. We work with you and your family to achieve what you want and need to be able to do.

Our Occupational Therapists work in:

  • Specialist Palliative Care In-patient Unit.
  • Day Care.
  • Hospice at Home.
  • Nursing Home.

We will provide:

  • Assessment, adaptation, education, advice and retraining around activities of daily living.
  • Assessment, recommendation, and/or provision of specialised seating and pressure care.
  • Home assessment as appropriate to support your choice to remain at home or to return there.
  • Prescribe therapeutic group or individual activity to allow you to adjust to changes or to develop functional skills.
  • Develop with you coping strategies with the changes you are experiencing.

Symptom management such as:

  • Fatigue management and energy conservation.
  • Breathlessness management.
  • Stress management.
  • Relaxation techniques.
  • Support, advice and training for family members and carers.
